Cotton – Scarce and Costly

Textile NewsThe demand by the local spinning mills was good in the week under report, but hard to comply. Both, the required qualities and origins were not always deliverable. Lots from the old crop did not always correspond to the quality needed to be taken in for prompt and the shipments from the new crop are not yet available. Logistic problems delay the loading in West African ports. It was also reported about constantly existing interest in fine / extra-fine cottons and also about sales from the new crop. The prices for effective cotton remained stable notwithstanding falling quotations in New York.

In the medium staple range turnovers were registered in Central Asian sorts for prompt and further in the 3rd and 4th quarter 2010; West African styles for prompt delivery, Greek descriptions for the 4th quarter 2010 and for the 1st quarter 2011, as well as Argentina and Brazil cotton for September 2010 shipment………
